Have a Safety Plan

December 1, 2024 5:00 AM - December 3, 2024 5:00 AM

Have a safety plan just in case...

Have a safe place to go, like a friend's house or a shelter and plan how to get there quickly if needed.

Keep Important Documents Ready: Store copies of important documents (ID, birth certificates, bank information) in a safe place or with a trusted person.

Prepare an Emergency Bag: Pack essentials (clothes, medications, money) in a bag and keep it in a safe, accessible place.

Stay Connected: Keep your phone charged and with you at all times. Know who to call in an emergency.

Document the Abuse: If safe, keep a record of incidents, including dates, times, and descriptions of what happened.

Know Your Local Resources: Familiarize yourself with local family justice centers, shelters, hotlines, and support services.

Trust Your Instincts: If you feel threatened, try to remove yourself from the situation as safely as possible while staying away from any room that may house weapons.

Seek Help: Reach out to trusted friends, family, or organizations that can provide support and guidance.

If YOU, or someone YOU KNOW is being hurt by a partner or loved one, let us help.
