Terms & conditions

These terms & conditions outline the rules and guidelines for using the Engage Chattanooga website (the “Platform”) and are meant to help ensure constructive and appropriate dialogue.

Who can participate in Engage Chattanooga?

Anyone can view public projects via the Platform. If you would like to participate in surveys or other requests for resident input, you will need to register and create an account. You can register using your e-mail address or by using an existing Google account. 

General terms and conditions for account use:

  • You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to register and create an account on the Platform. 
  • You may create only one (1) Platform account. An individual shall not create and maintain multiple accounts. 
  • The account details you provide must be true and accurate to the best of your knowledge. 
  • You are prohibited from transferring your account to someone else without permission from a Platform administrator.
  • Your account shall not be used for commercial promotion, advertising, marketing a product or service, etc.
  • You are responsible for keeping your account information secure and confidential. You should not share access to your account’s password and login details. 
  • To improve your account security, we advise using a password with a combination of numbers, lowercase letters, and uppercase letters. 
  • The City of Chattanooga is not responsible for any loss or damage incurred to your account and cannot be held responsible for its theft (e.g., via phishing).
  • The City of Chattanooga will never ask you for your account login details such as your password.

Your Activity on the Platform

To ensure safe and productive participation, the following content is prohibited from the Platform:

  • Private data
  • Confidential data and personal information about others, such as telephone numbers and addresses without their express authorization and consent.
  • Spam/malware/phishing/viruses/worms / Trojans
  • Malicious content or links that are meant to violate others’ privacy or to damage or disrupt others’ browsers or computers.
  • Threats, insults, and other inappropriate content
  • Personal attacks and insults, threatening behavior or language, discriminatory comments, profanity, and other offensive language.
  • Advertising and commercial activity
  • Content that infringes upon intellectual property rights (e.g., copyrighted images).
  • Content that promotes or facilitates illegal activities in any way.

NOTE: Content posted on the platform might contain harmful files or links. By downloading files or accessing hyperlinks via the Platform, you assume the risk and responsibility for any damage that may result.

If you fail to comply with these terms and conditions, Platform administrators reserve the right to: 

  • suspend or delete your account   
  • edit or delete your submission 
  • take any other remedial actions that they, in their sole discretion, deem appropriate to address the violation of these terms and conditions.

Repeated failure to comply with these terms and conditions may result in your account being permanently deleted and your access to Engage Chattanooga being blocked. New or additional accounts created to avoid temporary or permanent suspension will be monitored and deleted.

Applicable Laws

  • When using the Platform, you shall comply with all local, state, and federal laws. 
  • If you fail to comply with any laws while using the Platform, you may be held civilly or criminally liable.
  • The City of Chattanooga shall not be liable for content posted on the Platform by third parties that do not comply with local, state, or federal laws. 

Submissions

  • The City of Chattanooga has no obligation to implement ideas, suggestions, recommendations, etc. that are submitted through the Platform. However, if the City of Chattanooga does implement an idea, suggestion, recommendation, etc. that is submitted through the Platform, the individual who submitted the idea, suggestion, recommendation, etc. shall not be entitled to any form of compensation. 
  • The City of Chattanooga reserves the right at any time to pause, delay, or forgo the implementation of an idea, suggestion, recommendation, etc. made through the Platform due to changes in circumstances or for other reasons.
