FAQ
What is Engage Chattanooga?
Engage Chattanooga is a community engagement platform. Our goal is to use Engage Chattanooga to provide a central location for information about specific initiatives and to gather input from residents about these initiatives and other issues that matter to you.
How do I participate?
You can browse public projects. To be more involved, you can register. Different projects have surveys, timelines, and invitations for your active participation.
How is Engage Chattanooga different from the City’s website, chattanooga.gov?
Our new website is designed to provide comprehensive information about the many services offered by the City. The content is organized to make it easier for residents to find exactly what they are looking for, whether it is a 311 request or a schedule of upcoming City Council meetings.
Engage Chattanooga is intended to focus on a few core projects, providing information about those projects and inviting residents to become involved. The platform allows us to add new projects easily, allowing the City to respond quickly to issues as they change.
Why is the City launching Engage Chattanooga?
The Administration is committed to transparency and to providing access to information and City leaders. Engage Chattanooga is another way for residents to be heard.
Why should I participate in Engage Chattanooga?
Our City is actively working to add opportunities for all residents. Your input will help shape the future of Chattanooga. Engage Chattanooga is also intended to be used when and where it is convenient for you. With jobs, childcare, and other activities, you may not have time to attend a City Council meeting. That avenue is still open to all residents, but you can share online comments on your schedule.
If I register, how much information will others see about me?
The information you choose to share is entirely up to you. Some users may share their names and a photo. Others may choose just to share their names. You can also register but your profile will only be visible to Engage Chattanooga project managers. You can also offer comments or complete some surveys anonymously. This site is intended to meet your needs and respect your time and privacy.
Why can’t I post my input or submit a comment any time I want?
Commenting and voting may be enabled only during certain times or phases of a project. This allows the project manager to gather information during a specific time, followed by analysis, and reporting results associated with a project. However, if you have a question or comment about a project, most have open-ended options to suggest ideas.
How do I edit or delete my input?
If you’ve submitted your input but want to make edits or delete it, you can find this option by clicking on the three small dots on the top right of the post.
What are the community guidelines and moderation policies?
Our community guidelines are here to help ensure that the platform is a safe space for everyone to participate. Please ensure your submissions are free of:
- Personal attacks, insults, abusive or discriminatory comments
- Offensive language including profanity
- Marketing or advertising material
- Personal information about other individuals
- Copyrighted material such as images
Any submissions or comments that do not adhere to these guidelines may be edited or deleted, or in extreme instances, a user may be blocked from further interaction through the Engage Chattanooga platform. Please review our Terms & Conditions for more information.
What if I am having difficulty signing up or logging in?
If you’re unable to sign up, it may be because you’ve already registered with the same email address or previously received an invitation to join the platform. If you see a message that your email address is taken by a pending invite, please check your email and follow the link in the invitation to register your account. If you can’t find the invite, try looking in your spam box or request a new invitation.
How do I reset my password?
You can always request to reset your password from the login page. If you reset your password, a link will be sent to your email address - follow the instructions to change your password. For security reasons, the link is valid for one hour. If the link has expired, you can simply click on ‘Forgot password?’ on the login page again to generate a new reset link.
If you didn’t receive the email, check to make sure that it’s not in your spam and that you’re sending the link to the same email address that you signed up with.
What will you do with my data?
Review our privacy policy for more information on data collection and usage. In short, we will never use your data for advertising, marketing, or other types of spam.
What emails will I receive?
You will receive an email notifying you when you register for the site. The majority of information will be found directly on Engage Chattanooga, rather than through email messages. Hubspot is the City’s primary source for sending email messages to groups or contact lists, and anyone receiving an email about Engage Chattanooga through Hubspot will have the ability to opt out of future messages if they choose to do so.
How do I delete my account?
In your Settings, there is the option to delete your account. Input that you’ve posted will remain published, but your name will be removed from the post and replaced with ‘unknown author.’ If you’d like to delete all of your input, please do so before deleting your account.
